As your Council puts the finishing touches on its financial report for the year, it's timely look back on some of the highlights during my first year as Mayor of Christchurch.

We are a city with a bright future, and here at the Christchurch City Council we have an outstanding team dedicated to making this city one that prospers.  As well as providing essential services, your Council is responsible for safeguarding the future of Christchurch and developing sustainable plans for rates, energy and growth that focus on enhancing quality of life for all our residents.

Many of our achievements promote a sustainable future for our city with a range of initiatives to boost the economic prosperity of the city and build a place where families and enterprise could together flourish in harmony with our environment.

The Council's vision is for Christchurch to be a world-class boutique city, a leader with its urban design, landscape design and public transport systems.
